Set of firsts cards 2 by Double Bravo

I did a pretty decent job writing down events and memories in my girls’ baby books, but I do wish that Double Bravo Designs‘ Year You Were Born and First Milestones cards had been available 10 years ago, particularly the First Milestones cards, which make jotting down and saving those memories so incredibly easy. These would make a perfect baby gift.

Barbara Buenz of Double Bravo debuted her elegant and original designs at the National Stationery Show this year. I really liked her booth, and it was nice to say hello to her too. I’m looking forward to seeing more of her work.

Take a look at her pretty website and stop by her shop too.

NSS Round Up: Flywheel, Pistachio and Sapling Press

Flywheel Press at NSS

Twitter cards by Flywheel Press

Lucky card by Flywheel Press

Fruit cards by Flywheel Press

All of the above, Flywheel Press (See also her lunch box notes in this post on Charlotte’s Fancy).

Amber’s booth had chalkboard walls and she drew all of the decorative frames and moulding you see in the first picture with a chalk marker. Cool, huh? Also, don’t you love the Twitter card?

Pistachio Press and Aesthetic Outburst cards

Pistachio Press and Aesthetic Outburst notebooks

Telegram Wedding invite by Pistachio Press

All of the above, Pistachio Press. The telegram wedding invite above won a best wedding product award at the show! And the cross stitch cards and notebooks are a collaboration with Abbey Hendrickson of Aesthetic Outburst (along with a killer calendar you’re going to want to buy this year).

You should also see Pistachio Press’ NSS coverage for Aesthetic Outburst (here and here) – her photos and choices are first rate.

We go together cards by Sapling Press

I love you like cards by Sapling Press

Dear Blank cards by Sapling Press

All of the above, Sapling Press. Her super funny Dear Blank cards, a collaboration with Jared Wunsch of dearblankpleaseblank.com, won a best new product award at the show. And as far as I can tell, she also won most popular booth – it was always filled with people.

I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Amber of Flywheel Press (and her husband Rich), Rachael of Pistachio Press (and her husband Jake) and Lisa of Sapling Press for being my adopted family during NSS. Through them, I was able to get an invaluable behind-the-scenes experience at NSS, not to mention a close look at the tight knit letterpress community.

You can’t imagine how much hard work all these paper folks (I’m talking about everyone I featured this week) put into the months and days leading up to the show. The next time you want to buy some stationery, skip the giant card companies and support these guys instead.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s NSS.

NSS Round Up: Lagom and 1973

This is pretty paper geeky of me, but I was totally thrilled when I stumbled across a distributor’s booth (Vigo) and found lagom‘s and 1973‘s collections of cards, which I’ve mostly only seen online:

It’s a good thing I couldn’t just buy them on the spot. I would’ve cleaned out the whole booth.

I was going to write a little bit about each one of these, but it would’ve gone something like this:
“I love this card.”
“This calendar is adorable.”
“I loved this whole booth.”
“These guys are so nice.”

And uh, well, you get the picture. I wouldn’t include them here if I didn’t love them.

I’m not quite done yet – I have a handful more booths to feature tomorrow, and then I’ll wrap up my NSS coverage

You know who I really loved meeting at NSS? Allison Chapman of Igloo Letterpress. Absolutely as nice and as down to earth as can be. Not to mention incredibly talented.

These bright cards by Albertine Press really jumped out at me. Absolutely love them. In fact, I took tons of pictures of Shelley’s cards, because they’re such a treat to look at:

She has a whole series of these really nicely designed animal cards. These, I’d say, are great candidates for framing for your child’s bedroom.

I was also happy to finally see Angela Liguori‘s famous Italian cotton ribbon in person. Drool! She also had some lovely embroidered cards:

A perfect 10 for both Gold Teeth and Fig. 2‘s booths. Elegant color choices, mixed with just the right decorations to make the booths fun and welcoming (a yarn pompom garland and peonies at Gold Teeth, and giant lollipops and pompoms at Fig. 2 Design).

And, I never thought I’d say this, but I’m glad the neon trend is back. I really love all the neon cards I saw at the show this year.

I have to apologize to the Ladies of Letterpress for not getting photos of every exhibitor in this amazing booth. In addition to the wonderful ladies themselves, I especially loved this booth for its vibrant colors, and fun promotional materials. I am especially taken with Anemone Press’ luxuriously thick and cheerful business cards. Just fantastic.

Please be sure to visit all of their websites and shops. It’s well worth it:

NSS Round Up: Ink + Wit

Ink and Wit booth at NSS

Espresso Card by Ink and Wit at NSS

Polar bears card by Ink and Wit

Artic friends cards by Ink and Wit

Ink and Wit wrapping paper

I could have taken about a thousand photos of Ink + Wit‘s booth alone. Cards, rubber stamps, wrapping paper, mobiles, decals – all of it so impeccably designed. Somehow, though, I missed taking pictures of her single rubber stamps and the sweet boxes they came in.

I thought the natural wood of the booth fit her aesthetic perfectly.

And who could be nicer than Tara? I really enjoyed chatting with her.
